Carrowmore Community Assistance, Inc. (CCA) was established in 2002 as an IRS 501(c)(3), NYS not-for-profit corporation.
EXPERIENCE
Duane Nealon, AICP founding member and Executive Director of CCA has over 30 years professional experience in the field of housing and community development practicing throughout upstate New York and the New York City-metropolitan area—20 years serving the 11 counties surrounding the New York Capital District.
His primary focus has been the residential real estate market. Mr. Nealon has a Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning, is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), and is a New York State Licensed Real Estate Broker and Residential Appraiser (currently pursuing a NYS Certified General Appraiser License). His other certifications and training include: mortgage counselor, property manager, Residential Building Code of New York State, and Lead Based Paint Training for Renovators and Remodelers.
Nealon is a Buyer’s Agent in real estate transactions, with extensive residential appraisal experience, and has held several positions with not-for-profit housing organizations, has worked as a project manager for private design/build firms, and as a housing and community development planner for state and local governments.
Using low-cost and environmentally sensitive concepts, he designed and built his own home, incorporating features such as passive solar, bermed walls, super insulation, dry composting toilets, natural lighting, grey water reuse, photovoltaics, seasonal greenhouses, and organic gardening/landscaping based in Permaculture principles.
